Protoman helmet cosplay question
I’m starting to look up gear to get for my Protomen style Protoman cosplay at AWA. I’ll probably go with a double-breasted black shirt or vest with black pants and a tattered poncho. If I have the time, I’d like to make some armor pieces that I can velcro to various areas. I’m still deciding on the design of the arm cannon and if I’ll have a shield or not.
I’m finding some cheap helmets that look nice, but they’re matte. Have any of you had experience painting over matte finishes? Any suggestions on other cheap helmets?

Generally there are matte paints that usually work well on matte surfaces. If anything do a search for custom Motorcycle helmets and see how they did the paint jobs and take ideas from that.
