I'm a 23 year old Visual Communications graduate who enjoys good company, quiet time, video games, music, and some other geeky junk. I love life and try to show how much I appreciate everything all the time. I also have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Prada x Final Fantasy XIII-2. Seriously.

In celebration of Final Fantasy’s 25th anniversary, hoity-toity high-end fashion meets video games in this 12-page editorial spread in Arena Homme+ magazine where the FF XIII-2 characters rock duds from Prada’s 2012 summer collection.

This is actually pretty awesome.

Final Fantasy XIII-2’s Chocobo Theme - Crazy Chocobo

The new chocobo theme includes the lyrics “so you think you’re gonna ride this chocobo,” and “everybody’s gonna want to ride your chocobo.”  Just… cut it out Square Enix.  Please.

Somewhere, Nobuo Uematsu is crying himself to sleep.

I may know the answers,
though one question I still hear.
What twist in fate has brought us
to roads that run so near?

Lord of DreamsYoshitaka Amano
Amano’s art has always been hauntingly beautiful to me.  The stringiness reminds me a bit of the art in “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” and I love the colors he chooses.  The subjects seem mysterious, even when it’s a picture of characters I know.
This picture is actually of the character Dream from Neil Gaiman’s Sandman.  Apparently, Amano and Gaiman worked together on a project called “Return of the Thin White Duke”.  The inspiration for the main characters?  David Bowie and his wife.

Memoro de la Stono - Distant Worlds (Atlanta 5/6/11)

This past Saturday I had the pleasure (might be the biggest understatement of the year) to go see the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra play Nobuo Uematsu’s music, conducted by Arnie Roth.  The show, Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy, was absolutely phenomenal.  There were moments that gave me chills and took my breath away.  One of these moments was during the performance of the song Distant Worlds (the 2nd part to this 2 song video).  I had never heard it before and when the choir came in at “the big part,” I was blown away.  This video can’t really do justice to the sound quality that I heard at the theater, but I want so badly to share this song with everyone.

If you listen to one song today, listen to the one in the video.  If you can’t afford all the time, at least listen to the 2nd song (the one I really wanted to share), starting around 3:00.  I’ll probably post the mp3 later for sound quality.

It was an awesome night.  The whole orchestra did a great job and it was really fun watching Arnie Roth do his thing.  I didn’t get to talk to Uematsu, but I did scream at him from the balcony.  OH!  And they played One Winged Angel as an encore.  Uematsu sang along with the choir for that one.
